Bookfest
The Redwings Book Festival was a delightful mix of books and horses, and raised much needed funds for the Redwings Horse Sanctuary.
The authors were engaging and informative, discussing their writing journeys from finding inspiration, often from the gorgeous Norfolk/Suffolk landscape, to the highs and lows of getting published.
There was a fascinating talk on the influence of her mother on Anna Sewell's writing (Black Beauty), and the often overlooked talent of Mary Sewell.

Busy April
What a busy two weeks!
It started with a virtual book tour hosted by Silver Dagger Book Tours, promoting the Dragonslayer series on various blogs. So many lovely comments and it seemed the covers were definitely a hit! A highlight was a book review by Bunny. You can check them out by clicking the underlined links.
The British Fantasy Society never fail to deliver. Worldbuilding is so important in fantasy, and something I always enjoy playing with. Panels on religion and politics led to interesting discussions, although I found the session on magic systems particularly thought provoking. You can read more about the panellists here.
To perfectly finish the fortnight, The Writers Conference was a stimulating day, with knowledgeable panellists who gave me lots to think about. A surprise delight was a session on poetry (not my forte!) by Anthony Anaxagorou. You can read Facebook post by Writers East Midlands here.

New Project
Second-hand Whispers
My latest project is a contemporary fantasy.
A second-hand shop contains magical items that require a 'reader' to uncover their histories.
During a summer thunderstorm, Brooke seeks shelter in the shop and finds a magic ring. This chance event sets her on an adventure that will change her view of the world forever.
In trying to return the ring to its rightful owner, she travels to a strange land where she meets fantastical creatures and people who may be friends or who maybe be foes.

Creating Characters
I attended an informative and engaging workshop on creating characters, hosted by The British Fantasy Society (BFS).
The panelists gave freely of their processes and experiences in creating characters and the author interview introduced us to the eloquent and inspiring R.S.A. Garcia.
As if that wasn't enough, we were gifted with author readings to widen our understanding of the scope within our chosen genre.
A truly magical day.

My Writing Process
The British Fantasy Society asked me to write an article describing my process when writing the Dragonslayer series.

The Trilogy's Complete
My wonderful publishers Troubador Publishing celebrated the completion of the Dragonslayer triology.

My First Book
The publishing of my first novel merited an article in the local press!
